I have not heard anything back from the Dad at all. I am hesitant to telephone him as his marriage must be rocky with all that is happened. I thought that if his wife found that another woman called it might create more problems for him. I hope that some of you have been able to make contact. An I being too conservative?

i e-mailed the Dad in Calgary late last night, and haven't heard anything back. I hope I said the right things, because I sure feel for the man. I worry that there is some sort of JW ettiquette or social convention that I could get wrong.

By the way, there was not a single letter to the editor about that poor Dad's plight. The Journal's policy required each letter published with a full name, and that would scare off most people.
the memorial is on in just over two weeks' time, and i was wondering:.
has anyone invited you to the memorial yet?.
my old cong knows my address and phone number yet no-one has visited or phoned to invite me.
If you want to partake, go to another church's service where everyone is welcome. You won't be counted in Hall stats then, and you will be able to teach your kids about Jesus all you want.
I know that the church that I attend is very low key and anyone who is baptised (including those baptised as infants) is welcome to partake (take communion). It is left up to the individual to decide if it is right for them.
Would it be the leftover of the JW teaching about all other churches being Satan's organization, that stops so many from going elsewhere if they want to partake?

This story ran on the lower part of the front page of the front section of our local paper today. I live in Western Canada where this story is taking place. I hope lots of people read it and realize that the JW are a lot different than "the happiest people on earth" that they claim to be. If someone was considering a study, I would hope that they would realize that it could cost them the life of their child.

being the inexperienced 18-year old that i am, and with the close-minded parents that i have, it can be hard to find some good, reliable advice.

Hmmmmmm, well, she's pretty young... Is she JW? Whether she is or not, her parents may not be too keen on an 18 year old boyfriend. They may be OK with an 18 year old friend, so go very slowly.
Long distance relationships aren't easy, but that doesn't mean you can't be someone special in each other's lives.
there's this really great girl i know, and she is so perfect for me, except for the fact that she's a jehova's witness and i'm not.
she says that she can't date outside the religion.
i'm pretty sure that jehova's witnesses are a branch of "mainstream christianity" (meaning they just basically follow the bible, not have a different interpretation like like mormons).

Welcome to the board. I am non JW too, but I sure have learned a lot here. JW are really far from mainstream Christianity. Read information from all the links at the bottom of the page. Sorry, but I don't think dating a JW works out well at all.
